Scotland's Economy
EWEA Conference, Amsterdam
November 28, 2011 by Fergus Ewing MSP No Comments | Category Energy
Scotland’s huge ambitions for the generation of green energy is understood by audiences internationally, as I discovered when I attended two major european events last month. The range of Scottish companies showcasing at these events – many with support of Scottish Development International – is remarkable and a real testament to our burgeoning energy sector.
In my addressed to the European Wind Energy Association Offshore Wind Conference in Amsterdam on Tuesday I confirmed that Marine Scotland research has identified new areas for future offshore wind development in Scotland’s waters. This news means that a further 10 Gigawatts of development could be supported in addition to the existing plans for 10 Gigawatts of offshore wind around Scotland – yet another positive step forward in Scotland achieving its potential in renewables.
